Hemp Grain Products
The female hemp plant produces a mass of seeds, each about the size of match head. A good crop of an irrigated grain variety will yield from 1.5 to 2.5 tonnes per hectare of grain after cleaning and drying. Good hemp seed is large and plump containing over 30% oil.
Hemp grain contains more than 30% high grade protein, has an excellent ratio of omega 3, 6, and 9 fatty acids which are essential for human health, along with a number of other vitamins and minerals.
Major grain products include protein powders, hemp oil, nutritional supplements, snack bars, and lactose-free hemp milk as well as stock, fish and pet food ingredients.
Hemp protein powder is suitable for health food and sport supplement market and can be used as an additive in the food processing industry.
